About

Today’s video game consoles are more closely related to full-function computers than their more specialized ancestors.  Modern consoles allow the user to communicate with other users, connect to and browse the Internet, and even store gigabytes of photos, movies, and other media.  Modified consoles expand these abilities even further, to the point that the device can fulfill any role that a desktop PC could, such as a file server, multimedia center, and more.

It’s obvious to see that, because of these circumstances, video game devices could potentially be viable sources of evidence during an investigation.  The goal of this site is to provide researchers and law enforcement officials easy access to relevant white papers and academic publications, and also to promote awareness of this emerging field of forensic study.
